About Jim Ewan
Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in December 1940, Jim was brought up in England to consider himself Scottish. With a father from Cowdenbeath in the Kingdom of Fife and a mother from Berwick upon Tweed, what else?
He was educated in Birmingham and Berkshire and thus exhibits schizoid signs.
His career has been, to put it politely, varied:
Quantity surveyor; motor industry progress chaser; supermarket bag-boy – before entering the computer industry in 1961.
Operator, programmer, analyst and eventually IT consultant before it was called IT. Worked with clients like Brook Bond Oxo, Rolls Royce, the European Space Research Agency (in Germany) before becoming director responsible for the organisation’s sales and marketing efforts.
Moved to Leeds to joined an insurance broker where he trained and managed sales teams before moving to Scotland and setting up own brokerage.
Became interested in photography and worked with a Fife photographer for a short time before setting up own studio.
Moved back to South-East in the early 1980s to become director of an information management services company.
Began running public speaking workshops as a paying hobby.
"Retired" and began pursuing speaking/training/writing as a more-or-less full time business to eke out pitiful pension.
